Let me start by saying that ‘most’ network marketing companies provide good basic training. Unfortunately the word ‘basic’ summarises it perfectly. After a brief introduction into the industry you’re normally left to fend for yourself with no clear direction and practical advice about prospecting. You are usually given the advice to prospect your family and friends, which you feel uncomfortable performing.
Is it any wonder that 95% of networkers fail in this business?!
Your upline will tell you that it’s easy, all you have to do is write down you goals, read them daily and visualise you already have them. Even the famous video “The Secret” continuously repeats this concept to achieve success.
So there you go. Now you know the secret to building a hugely successful network marketing business.
Yeah right – if only it was that easy!
Don’t get me wrong there are a number of positive things we learn from these teachings, however there is one vital step which is not emphasised enough. The step I’m talking about is taking action. It doesn’t matter if it is network marketing or if you’re a shoes salesman, if you do not take any action towards achieving your goals then how do you ever expect to be successful?
If you have only just started in your business or you have been in your business for many years, I’m sure you remember the excitement when you first started. You were so eager to build your business, but you had no idea how. You were probably taught to write a list of everyone you know and invite them to a one-on -one meeting or a group presentation and whilst you might feel uncomfortable doing this at first, you were assured that it gets easier.
So if this advice is so good, why is it so many people fail in this business?
Is it the company’s fault you are not successful?
Is it because they are not teaching you the right things?
Or is it just because you’re not taking their advice?
Well, if the action you are taken is not effective, then essentially the problem must lie in what you are doing. This is not necessarily your fault. It is what you have been shown to do and it doesn’t always work, or alternatively they showed you what to do but because it made you feel uncomfortable you chose not to do it.
So, what is an effective way to use your time?
The name “Networking Marketing” says it all. Whilst most people have no trouble building a network, what they seriously lack are the skills of being able to successfully market themselves and their product. It is pretty ironic when you think about it, who would run a marketing business if they didn’t know how to market? Incidentally if this is the case, you’re not alone. There are thousand of people in this business who have no idea what marketing is. Again this is no your fault, you just have not been exposed to this side of the business.
What most of the modern day top recruiters in network marketing have in common is that they have developed successful marketing campaigns, which have allowed them to concentrate their time with qualified prospects that are willing to contact them. In general, who do you think has a better success rate – a networker that calls 100 random prospects to try and sell their product/business or a networker who receives 10 calls a day from prospects who are already interested? Additionally which is easier? And which is better for your quality of life and mental health?
The key success concept here is marketing. What you should be looking for in a network newsletter is how to market yourself, your products and your business. Sure you can pay for it and yes there are some good books, CD’s and DVD’s available on the market. However why not just tap into a good network marketing website that will not only provide you with lots of good network marketing training and advice but also a monthly newsletter that will teach you how to market yourself for free?
A good network marketing newsletter will include all the latest marketing strategies, techniques and secrets. It will include practical tips; like how to conduct your own market research and how to develop a marketing strategy. It should show you how to write articles, press releases, emails, create websites and more.
