LG recently launched a Windows phone and it seems that the company does not seem to be content with the launch after it recently announced that it will be making a dual core smartphone. Yes, a smartphone that runs on dual core processors. The LG Optimus 2X is the phone and it will be satisfying the needs of power addicts, who have so far been left alone with the single core processors. The LG Optimus 2X is not only about the dual core processors. Instead, it will be having plenty of other features as well that will surely take this phone to the top of the spectrum when it comes to high end smartphones.
The launch of this phone is significantly expected to change the whole scenario in the high-end smartphone segment. This is because it will be the first phone that will be providing competition to the Retina Display technology and the Super AMOLED display technology that has so far been used in the high-end phones. The display of the LG Optimus 2X will be a 4 inch display that will be using the capacitive technology for its touchscreen. It is capable of displaying up to 480 x 800 pixels without too much of the difficulty and even though it might not be up to the level of the Retina Display technology in terms of resolution, it is no slouch either. The internal memory of the phone is expected to be around 8 GB. While this is nowhere sufficient for a phone of this magnitude and in this segment, the 32 GB external memory card support that this phone provides is certainly one that will take care of it.
The phone will be having quite a lot of external connectivity features that can be easily used to add or share content. The LG Optimus 2X will be having a HDMI port at the top of the phone and the micro-USB port at the bottom. There will be also a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which can be used for connecting this phone to other headsets. The LG Optimus 2X comes with an eight megapixel snap shooter at the back. It is plainly evident that it will be coming with a Flash and autofocus features. It will also be having all of options that are present in standalone digital cameras like image stabilisation, face detection and Geotagging. The biggest advantage of having the eight megapixel camera in this phone will be the presence of the 1080 p video recording option.
The operating system that this phone will be carrying will be the Android 2.2 operating system. It is expected to receive the update to the Android 2.3 version that was released recently. The LG Optimus 2X has been announced for the UK market and it will be available with operators like T-Mobile. It will be released in March of this year and it is expected to cost around £ 470 in the pre-order market, although there will be plenty of deals once it launches.
