Social networking has broadened the scope of networking significantly. The important difference is both social networks are “at-will” participants. Within days of joining one can see the list of network grow in a manner that would take time and travel using the way of stealth prospecting. Successful business people people are always networking. Good networking involves creating rapport, trust and friendships that last. In essence they recognize that people are attracted to you first and then to your idea. Stealth prospecting tends to put the attraction on the idea first, then the person. It is hard to leave a good first impression on your prospect specially when your cheery nature ends up with a blindsiding business proposition on them. Good businesses are built on these foundations. With online networking, it is now possible to pace out the prospecting process, give people space to know you and even weed out those who may not want to join your network marketing or business opportunity but are willing to remain a potential resource down the line. In stealth marketing your prospect is either immediately attracted to you or put off by your stealth methods leaving them wondering who and what you offer is legit or not. It is not about old versus new. It is all about how you go about it.
