What is the definition of our Target Market? Simply stated it is anybody who wants to buy what we have for sale.
Well, we know that already, but more specifically, of whom is our target market comprised? Are they found in our 100 names list – work associates, long forgotten acquaintances, etc., even though we don’t know personally much about them or their lives?
It goes without saying, that the more specifically our target market can be identified, the more successful we as multilevel marketing entrepreneurs will be. Of course we’ll measure our successes by the number of prospects we actually sign up and the amount of income that we get from our mlm opportunity.
For any business to flourish, whether a typical brick and mortar store or a simple lemonade stand run by a neighborhood youngster, it must accurately identify and serve its respective target market.
It is the same for the network marketing internet business owner. If they haven’t properly identified their target market, success will not be the outcome.
Firmly establishing who our target market is before even starting off on our network marketing business venture, cannot be overstated if we expect success.
The next question then is, how can this be done with for our network marketing business, without using the traditional marketing methods for mlm, which we already know will not work?
All the people we’ve been taught in the past, who will be most interested in helping you succeed – relatives, friends, etc. Right?
Within the structured traditional thinking, we were taught to look in the wrong places for our target market. Our learned expectations of what makeup our “Warm Market”, or our “Target Market”, has been incorrect all along.
So our target market is not made up of our family tree or our work associates. Our list can be 50, 100 or 200 names long and still not do us any more good for obtaining qualified leads than just picking names out of the phone book.
The only reason our warm market would be exactly our target market is, IF they have the same business interests as we do, and IF they too have a strong motive to succeed in network marketing.
Some of the rest of your so-called warm market may eventually become interested in your business AFTER you’ve shown obvious success, but even then, they may be enticed to join your business wrongly motivated, and never become the “star” players that will rocket your business into success.
To build a business that will eventually produce a residual income for us, the individuals comprising our target market must hold the same high esteem for the network business you are offering and they must be strongly enough motivated to stick with the building process of the business.
The next question is obvious.
Is there a dependable way of choosing prospects with the same goals in life, the same interests as yourself who understand what will be required to make this business work? Remember, you’re looking for those who do not require being babysat for each step of building their businesses.
Yes, there is a very successful way of accomplishing this, but it requires a major thought shift away from the way network marketing is traditionally approached. This new method is referred to as Attraction Marketing, or Permission Marketing.
