Globally cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug with disproportionately high use among persons with HIV Despite advances in HIV care nearly half of persons living with HIV continue to experience neurocognitive deficits or impairments that may have negative impacts on their daily function Chronic cannabis use may play a role in the development or exacerbation of these impairments Here we present a review summarizing existing research detailing the effect of cannabis use associated with the neuropathogenesis of HIV We examine evidence for possible additive or synergistic effects of HIV infection and cannabis use on neuroHIV in both the preclinical and adult human literatures including in vitro studies animal models clinical neuroimaging research and studies examining the cognitive effects of cannabis We discuss the limitations of existing research including methodological challenges involved with clinical research with human subjects We identify gaps in the field and propose critical research questions to advance our understanding of how cannabis use affects neuroHIV Graphical AbstractDiabetes mellitus DM is one of the remarkable disease challenges in the twentyfirst century and poses threat to patients physical health Given the difficulty of treatment and the high possibility of relapse patients often have mental illness A total of 117 patients with type 2 DM were randomly divided into two groups for a 2month intervention The intervention group underwent an InformationMotivationBehavioral skills IMB intervention program based on protection motivation theory and traditional intervention was applied to the control group No significant difference is found between the intervention and control groups before the intervention P 005 However after the intervention the blood glucose level and depression score of the intervention group are lower than those of the control group P 005 The combination of IMB intervention and protection motivation theory is important to improving the psychological resilience of patients with type 2 DM raising their quality of life and reducing their blood glucose levelDSM5 introduced a number of modifications to the catatonic syndrome which is now closer to Kahlbaums original concept The aim of the present study was to assess residents and qualified psychiatrists knowledge experience and views about the treatment of catatonia in acute psychiatric care in Budapest Hungary Authors approached all psychiatric units that provide acute psychiatric care N 11 in Budapest and invited all psychiatrists and residents who consented to participate in the survey completing a 13 items questionnaire Ninetyeight fully qualified and trainee psychiatrists completed the questionnaire Although 847 of the participants rated their knowledge of catatonia as moderate or significant there were a number of obvious mistakes in their answers Most catatonic signs and symptoms were not identified by almost 50 of the respondents and the frequency of catatonia was also underestimated The views of the majority of the participants reflected the Kraepelinian concept in which catatonia is primarily associated with schizophrenia Although benzodiazepines are widely recommended as a first line treatment for catatonia only 694 of participants chose them as a treatment option Selleckchem Iberdomide In view of its clinical importance catatonia deserves more attention in the education and training of medical students and psychiatric residentsThe main aim of this systematic review and metaanalysis was to calculate and compare the frequencies of obsessions and compulsions in women with obsessivecompulsive disorder OCD during pregnancy OCDP the postpartum period OCDPP and when they are neither pregnant nor postpartum OCDNPP Fourteen studies were selected after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria The metaanalysis showed that aggressive obsessions were much more common in OCDPP than in OCDP and OCDNPP and that washingcleaning compulsions were less frequent in OCDPP than in OCDP and OCDNPP These differences were significant whereas the frequencies of various obsessions and compulsions did not distinguish between OCDP and OCDNPP Obsessions about accidental harm to the infant and other infantfocused obsessions checking compulsions selfreassurance and seeking reassurance from others were also relatively common in OCDPP Clinical manifestations of OCDPP are relatively specific and differ from those of OCDP and OCDNPP whereas OCDP does not seem to have distinct clinical features Although these findings do not necessarily suggest that OCDPP is a distinct subtype of OCD they have important conceptual and clinical implicationsConidiobolus spp are important saprophytic basal fungi However to date no genomiclevel data for decaying plant materials in the genus Conidiobolus has been reported Here we report that the 334Mb genome of Conidiobolus heterosporus encodes 10857 predicted genes Conidiobolus heterosporus harbors 394 CAZymeencoding genes belonging to 4 major modules but does not encode a polysaccharide lyase PL Many carbohydrate esterases CEs belonging to the family CE12 play crucial roles as pectin acetylesterases and 14 genes were upregulated in the IM fungus grown on inducing medium among 17 expressed CE12 family genes In addition most of the genes in the GH132 CAZyme family showed a greater than 5fold increase in expression in the IM compared with that in the wild type Furthermore 122 P450encoding genes grouped into 11 families were detected in the fungal genome most of which belonged to the CYP547 family 36 genes followed by CYP548 27 genes and CYP5856 25 genes Interestingly members of the families CYP5014 and CYP5136 were identified the first time such enzymes have been described in a fungus Our findings provide new insights into the genomics and genomic features of the saprophytic basal fungus C heterosporusKey Points Genome of the saprobiotic basal fungus C heterosporus was sequenced and analyzed 394 CAZymes but no PL family genes were found and expression levels were determined CE12 and GH132 proteins may play roles in the pectin and plant material degradation A large number of P450s but few P450 families existed in the fungus
