I’ve looked at a lot of GPS systems and have been lucky enough to find a few good, cheap GPS systems for cars. The one I like the best is the Garmin Nuvi 205W. It does everything you want a basic GPS to do. It does have a few bells and whistles, but again it’s a basic unit that works extremely well. The Garmin Nuvi 205W will give you the very best bang for your buck, because it does exactly what you need a GPS to do. It has an impressive reaction time, very fast navigation, and the menus are easy to use. The 205W grabs the closest satellite when turned on and holds on in locations you wouldn’t believe. It truly is impressive. One of the reasons that Garmin has such a hold on the GPS market is all the features in this unit.
You can store up to a thousand favorite locations, it has a very fast chip inside, it gives you a trip minder and has a beautiful widescreen.
It gives very clean directions with distances, your current and your road mph, and time of arrival.
If all that is not enough, it’s also very easy to mount in your car.
One of my favorite features is how the unit performs at night. The 205W’s screen changes color at night from white to dark blues and blacks to help make it easier to read and find addresses in the dark; and it has a sunlight-readable screen in the daytime as well.
Using the touch screen makes navigating very easy to set destinations.
The 205W has the ability to give you turn-by-turn voice directions.
You can get your maps in either 2-D or 3-D and it will redraw your maps for you as you travel.
The best part is the different colors for different terrains which gives you digital elevation maps.
It also re-calculates if you miss a turn.
The unit is also very compact and light, and the speed at which the unit will react when you touch the screen is very impressive.

The box comes to you complete with your 205W unit, preloaded City Navigator® NT data for the lower 48 states, vehicle suction cup mount, vehicle power cable, and quick start manual.
